Satellite spotting

If you ever need a surefire way to beat stress and reawaken your sense of wonder, try satellite spotting. All you need is a place to lie down and a night sky. Pick a group of stars, and watch them closely to see if one of them moves noticeably relative to the others. If it does, you’ve found a little engineering marvel careening through space. If not, move around some other clusters of stars. It might take a while, but even if you come back empty-handed, just staring into deep space helps bring things into perspective.

If you get seriously hooked, you can calculate when the International Space Station and other bright satellites will be overhead, but I like the thrill of finding one by chance.
